Just having these symptoms never means you have a cancer. Cancer is kept at the last on list especially if there is bilateral involvement (both the tonsils are involved). The lymph nodes are painful to touch due to inflammatory process in tonsils. Again, getting tender nodes never mean it is cancer.

To start with, ask your ENT Surgeon to examine the tonsils and see if there is any exudate that may show chronic infection. Later he needs to go for a biopsy of both tonsils to see whats going in there.  When there is chronic infection of the tonsils, it causes a feeling of foreign body in throat and swallowing difficulty.

So, I recommend you to visit an ENT Physician for proper evaluation. It is very early to say it is cancer. I want to reassure that this is not the way we need to proceed in your case.

I have seen an ENt 3 times and they do not know what is wrong and i have seen my primary more times than that. I have a dental appointment in a couple days ans will get them to do an oral cancer screening.

Without biopsy it is difficult to say what this actually is. It can be anything ranging from chronic infection, tonsilloliths (stones in tonsils) or a cancer.

But you don't think its cancer? Can nicotine mints ans nicotine gum cause mouth or throat cancer? My doctor suspected post nasal drip from the viral infection i had a month or month and a half ago. He said i should do flonase and i did that for a couple weeks and nothing has gotten better. I did have that viral infection though. My lymphnodes dont hurt they are just a little tender and a little swollen.

You need biopsy. Ask the Dentist which I dont think is his scope of practice. Maxillofacial Surgeons may do. Otherwise, ENT Surgeon is the best personnel trained to treat such cases with success.

You need to have a thorough Dental workup too to see if there is any periodontal disease. Worsening of the symptoms at night seem to be due to supine position of body & lack of activity.

Also ask at your next visit ENT Physician or PCP, to rule out Globus Hystericus. Some patients with gasteroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may also show up with symptoms like you have observed for some time. It is also needed to be discussed on the next visit to your PCP.

My other symptoms are a runny nose and headache and sore neck and throat. The swallowing problems are on and off all day

I also deal with bouts of caker sores but i dont know if i have any right now. The right tonsil that has the white patch behind it soesnt look infected or inflamed but my left one does

It is difficult to say without testing. Chronic infection can present like that. But not every patient can judge and differentiate if this is infection or not. Better to go for proper diagnostics and rely on results. We cant go merely on clinical presentation.

Not necessarily especially if taken for a year or so. But to be on the safer side better to get tested if exposed to nicotine for even the said time too. Gums are not that notorious as other sources of nicotine.

Gargles, avoidance of diet that is spicy and at extremes of temperatures, fried and junk foods. Do tooth brush twice a day. Keep track of your diet and remain physically active. Observe all other instructions mentioned earlier. For pain, you may take OTC Painkillers.

When you have tonsillitis can you get res dots at the roof of your mouth?

My dental appt was about a week and a half or so ago. Maybe two. And they did the oral cancer exam with that light thing where i had to wewr special glasses. They said they didnt see anything that looks precancerous or csncerous. Can oral cancer develop that fast. Or is it the tonsillitis? Ive had the tonsillitis for almost 2 months and just noticed these dots today

In that exam they examined if there is any obvious change in the linings of mouth. Precancerous conditions do exist and there are chances of getting them converted to cancerous lesions. Fortunately there was nothing wrong with you.

Oral cancer takes time to develop and it doesn't go that fast. This seems to be tonsillitis and may be an added infection of throat too (Pharyngitis). The hard palate as seen in picture, shows some signs of inflammation. I suggest you to take special care of your diet and avoid smoking or illicit drug use (if any). Oral hygiene also does matter and you need to take care of that.

If Nicotine gum/mints is a part of your cigarette cessation program, I would preferably suggest you to consult your treating Physician about that. They may have better options regarding the issue. Nicotine gums/mint is definitely a good temporary substitute/alternative to help in cessation of smoking.

I have a random question. Bith of my parents were severe alcohlics before theh died and my brother is an alcoholic. What are the chances percentage wise that i could become one? Apparnelty botn of my uncles were alcoholics as well

Being an alcoholic is a lifestyle--an addictive change of behavior that can be adopted or left/overcome over time in ones life. It is not something that runs in genes. Some religions prohibit alcoholism and some societies also condemn it. But people still have their choice and they do drink even being under restrictions and obligations. Physicians condemn drinking too much but people still drink. But sometimes people stop at their own or through assistance and medical aid. Never this factor transmit in genes. It is rather the environmental factors, ones company and habits that matter a lot in making him what he is. A drinker isn't a born drinker. Every child is born on true laws of nature as a perfect human being. Its his surroundings who make his personality.

Your chances of being an alcoholic depends broadly on your family, friends (company you have), your habits, your intentions. A major factor is how streamline you are in your professional life.

Its hard to see but under my tongue on the side there is a eoind patch that is a diffwrent color slightly lighter than that area of my tongue. Should i worry about it? I do not know if my dentist examined that part of my mouth or not

Pain doesn't seem to be from that area you are worried about. And that is clinically insignificant to me. If it changes color, size or consistency then you need a follow up. Otherwise nothing to do about that.

Although not so clear but it seems there is a little bump on the right edge of tongue. (Physical examination can rule the cause of pain out).

Anyway, we need to resolve the issue. So you may take over the counter Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for a couple of days. I preferably suggest you to discuss this medicine with your pharmacist and Primary Care Physician before you actually take it. We have to keep in mind drug allergies and contraindications. Take always after meals.

Its been looked at by the doctors that misdiagnosed my tonsillitis 4 times. They said it was normal but now i dont know if i can trust what they say anymore. When the dentist did the oral cancer exam he looked at my tongue and did not say he saw anytbing that worried him. He even shined yhat UV light thing over my mouth.

And now my throat hurts too

And im coughing a lot more

Red spots all in top of mouth now

And the top part of the inside in some areas burns

I have noticed on the inside of my mouth on my gum near my teeth in the back om my top teeth there is a white area as well and it stings. Its not extreemly white. Its kind of transparent white.

Now i have this going on. What is that?

I have gone through the pictures associated with queries. I am sure your Dentist examined that tongue lesion well and if there was something suspicious he must have taken notice of that. Sometimes, such tongue lesions are due only to little injuries incurred by teeth during chewing food.

The red spots on throat and coughing may be due to ongoing throat infection. The white area you are talking about is nothing abnormal. It seems to be the normal part of mouth mucosa. And if there was something wrong that must have been discussed by your Dentist.

If the white part developed over the past one day, it is nothing to worry about. Its looks just a change of color that is clinically insignificant. Gum changes may be due to:
Particles of food when get trapped in between teeth, they may cause gum issues even within few hours. It is due to decay of food particles.
Other causes related to gums may be related to periodontal disease. Your Dentist can better treat them as there are a lot more chronic reasons for that.

Yes nicotine is one of the irritants for oral mucosa and it can be a factor of your ill health as mentioned earlier. Smoking is the other causative agent. And now when you have quit smoking, sooner will its bad effects be over. Thats why I am not much worried about that ( if you remain smoke free).

I havent smoked in a year and a half. So why would that other doctor have come to that conclusion? I didnt think white patches on my gums were normal.

Is it changing that much over 24 hours a good or bad thing?

It can be gum inflammation or periodontal disease as aforementioned. You have to get it examined physically by your Dentist. The pictures don't give much details to comment. Dentist will have the advantage of examining it thoroughly. If it's inflammation, changes like this in a day, isn't so weird phenomenon. Inflammation can worsen or go down so fast. Some people for example are allergic to Listerine and get their gums inflamed after gargles with it.

 Why someone else came to some conclusion, is something I can't comment on. Better to discuss the things directly.
